Tycho Manson has a broad litigation practice, with a focus on defamation and media law.

Before joining Chernos Flaherty Svonkin LLP in 2014, Tycho, who is a former journalist, spent more than six years as in-house counsel at one of Canada’s largest media companies, specializing in libel litigation, employment litigation and pre-publication advice, and advising on matters ranging from intellectual property issues to commercial disputes. Before that, Tycho spent more than eleven years at two of Canada’s largest law firms, where his work ranged from complex commercial matters to media law, environmental law, and tax litigation. Tycho has appeared at all levels of Ontario courts as well as the Supreme Court of Canada, and the Federal Court. Tycho also has experience in medical negligence litigation, inquests and professional discipline proceedings.

  • an arbitration for a major book retailer in connection with its rights to return inventory to publishers
  • multiparty litigation involving liability for environmental contamination at a number of service-station sites
